human.

We live in strange times ( I suppose every time is strange though).

But I’ve never heard this phrase more than I have in the last three months: we need to be more human.

Why am I hearing it so much? Is it because folks like you and me are feeling like we’ve hit maximum capacity? The noise has reached its peak: a piercing flurry of never-ending demands on our attention. A million ways to consume. (The average human is exposed to over 4,000 brand impressions per day.)

We’re also seeing the inhumane play out on a massive scale globally. The artificial and soul-less are directing our lives, carving up our time, dictating our mind-spend.

This could be for a myriad of reasons, but I’ve never been less excited about technological advancement and more excited about connection. Connection without agenda. Connection that creates and validates and builds up.

Here’s to intentionally connecting, finding shared meaning and saying no to the soul-less noise crashing in on us. And to quote a favorite song of mine from an incredible band, “If we’re adding to the noise… turn off this song.”
